Here's some info about fleece vests:

Fleece vests are a fall staple. These comfortable and attractive outerwear pieces provide a dash of style and a cozy layer of additional warmth without being stifling. Popular at retail, Columbia, L.L. Bean and Patagonia are just a few of the leading brands that pack their collections with fleece vests for him and her.

Given the ever-growing influence of retail on imprinted apparel, it is little surprise that fleece vests are trending in the ad specialty marketplace, too. The vests appeal to a wide variety of markets. Schools and universities want them. So do hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. Technology start-ups dig them, as does every entity from the local health food store and wineries to resort ranches and telecommunications companies. "Fleece vests are great for a corporate environment or incentive program," says Joe Bunsness, Ash City's (asi/37127) vice president of sales (Western U.S.). "These layering pieces can be great for both indoors and outdoors, and are typically at reasonable price points."

Ash City has struck particular success with its Journey Vests (88191/78191), made of 100% polyester anti-pill fleece. Boasting features like tonal coverstitch detailing and stretch binding finishes on the armholes, Ash City's Voyage Vests (88173/78173) are also hot sellers. Meanwhile at Tri-Mountain (asi/92125), the Crescent (7020) and the companion style Excursion (8350) – which feature 100% spun polyester fleece – are a hit with clients. "Our fleece vests are doing well," says John Perez, marketing associate at Tri-Mountain.

When it comes to options for decorating the vests, a variety of options exist. "We feel fleece is best with embroidery, as it has the ability to handle fine text and/or designs," says Bunsness. "Other decoration options that you might research are laser and mixed-media designs, a leading edge trend that suits any garment with clean styling." Perez says the embellishment options don't stop there. "We prefer heat transfers for many of our garments."Uniform Sales of America, Inc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04752121381441772855noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874503396995284028.post-71762940952140461132013-08-26T19:13:00.001-07:002013-08-26T19:13:30.685-07:00
Since 2002, Workrite has raised the bar in flame-resistant (FR) workwear safety by certifying garments to the NFPA 2112 standard. In fact, we’ve been certifying garments since it was possible to do so. And, while many safety professionals look for FR fabrics that are certified to NFPA 2112, having certified garments provides key safeguards to ensure your employees are protected.

This additional certification at the garment level guarantees that these garments have been audited as a whole finished product. It goes beyond just fabric to include thread, zipper tape and all the items that make up the garment. And with the ongoing audit requirement, you can trust that every garment you order meets the same standards.

So Workrite takes the additional step of not only putting the required internal label inside the garment, but also adding an additional external label to certified garments for a quick visual reference. Our “NFPA 2112” external label guarantees that your entire garment satisfies the stringent requirements of this safety standard.

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Moisture management apparel, also referred to as performance apparel, is not just for athletes any more. It's also fast becoming a garment choice for employees who work in hot and demanding environments, as well as anyone interested in maximum on-the-job comfort, no matter the work activity or surrounding temperatures.

Moisture management apparel is made entirely or partially from synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, since these manmade fibers can be manufactured to create air pockets that serve as funneling tubes to wick moisture away from skin. Such wicking action, in effect, mimics capillaries in the human body, which push oxygenated blood from inner arteries to outlying cellular tissues.

Temperature and worker exertion levels will typically dictate whether moisture management apparel is 100 percent synthetic -- to maximize its wicking characteristics, or a blend of fabrics, such as 65/35 poly/cotton -- to take advantage of the natural fiber's supple and abrasion-resistant characteristics.

As styling options have increased in recent years, so has the popularity of moisture management apparel. "At one time, if you wanted moisture management clothing, your choices were often limited to t-shirts," says Adam Soreff, Director of Marketing at UniFirst, a leading provider of uniforms and workwear to businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. "That's all changed. Today, moisture management apparel includes such items as t-shirts, polo shirts, and a wide selection of industrial and other workwear shirts. At UniFirst, we even offer performance wear that's flame resistant."

Moisture management innovators are now able to weave fibers into small patterns on shirts that provide extra strength to the resulting fabric without any increase in weight. "One of the more popular weaves is known as micro pique," Soreff says. "Micro pique features mini geometric patterns on the fabric face; the added strength allows the apparel to withstand the rigors of tough work, as well as the industrial wash processes used in uniform rental programs like ours."

By helping to regulate body temperature, moisture management apparel has been shown to improve muscle performance and worker productivity. And that can be considered a "home run" on every athletic or business manager's scorecard.

Building a Better Work Shirt, Inch by Inch

Body sizing and fit preferences change over the years, and our research indicated that it was time for us to make some minor tweaks to the core lineup of Red Kap work shirts.

First, we increased the length of the back by one inch. This makes it easier for our work shirts to be tucked in - and stay tucked in - through physical work days. For those who choose to wear their shirt untucked, the additional length will provide a neater, more modest appearance.

Next, we added 1.25 inches to the sleeve length. This change will enhance the wearer's experience by allowing a greater range of motion and neater appearance.

The final change we made was to increase the back yoke width by 1.5 inches. This modification also improves the wearer's range of motion, resulting in even greater comfort and flexibility while on the job.

Red Kap is continuously seeking ways to improve our garments and we're excited about this updated fit. The feedback from individuals involved in wear tests was nothing but positive and we feel certain you'll agree.

Bulwark® Protective Apparel has taken a dynamic approach to B2B marketing with the release of “451o”, a stunning and thought provoking film that focuses attention on one simple fact: people are not fireproof.

As the world’s largest manufacturer of flame-resistant apparel for industrial workers, Bulwark wanted to focus attention on the relationship between people and fire, specifically individuals working in hazardous environments such as those in the oil and gas industry, electric utility workers and commercial electricians.

“451o will surprise many industry observers,” said Stan Jewell, Bulwark General Manager. “Our customers are engaged in serious, sometimes dangerous work. We want them to know that we understand the risks inherent in their work and that Bulwark is committed to developing innovative products and services that increase safety and reduce risk.”

From its inception, Bulwark envisioned the project as one with greater appeal, not only to safety engineers and target industries, but to people in all walks of life. Initial audience reaction has proven that the message strikes the intended chord, reinforcing that life is fragile and, like paper, people can be destroyed in moments.

Gloucester, MA, June 14, 2012 - Since 2006, all passports and many credit cards, debit cards, enhanced drivers licenses, and law enforcement credentials and ID’s contain a RFID (radio frequency identification) chip embedded in them, thus making this information vulnerable to identity theft. Strong Leather Company, realizing this security risk, has been an industry forerunner, using an innovative shielding technology in some of its product linings since 2008.

Strong Leather Company is proud to introduce their new line of “Made in the USA” RFID Shielding Leather Wallets now being offered nationally. The new “RFID” line of stock products has been developed and tested to protect against “identity theft” which is the unauthorized RF (Radio Frequency) scanning (skimming) of personal and departmental information contained in the embedded chip.

Some of the informal feedback about the current service dress includes Airmen wanting to revamp the service dress to look more military, like the other services. One senior airman said, “the current uniform resembles a cheesy business suit.” A staff sergeant said, “think world’s most dominating air power, not CEO,” and another described it as a “cheap leisure suit.”

Other comments have suggested that the uniform needs to reflect the Air Force’s history more. On an Internet message board an Airman recently wrote, “I want to look good and be proud of my AF heritage.” Another Airman wrote that the dress uniform pales in comparison to any of the other services. "We need something that distinguishes us as proud members of the U.S. military.”

The Air Force began exploring these ideas by producing several prototypes that reflect a combination of ideas that have been gleaned from comments, suggestions and informal surveys conducted over the past several years.

You’d also find a path stretching back 120 years to Water Street in Milwaukee where Albert H. Weinbrenner started making his first pair of shoes.

In 1892, 27 year-old Weinbrenner, the son of a cobbler, and his business partner opened a shop and later started manufacturing shoes. They grew to become industry leaders by using tools, techniques and methods exclusive to their production. By 1916 they were producing 20,000 pairs daily of men’s and boy’s shoes.

The Thorogood brand debuted in 1918 and thrust Weinbrenner into mass markets across the country with branches opening in major cities including New York, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco. The decades to follow would bring new products, new partnerships, consolidations, market opportunities and leadership transitions. Patents were developed and production supplied trends in shoes and boots for work, military, sport, casual, youth and men’s footwear. Quality and American manufacturing remained steadfast through it all.
Uniform Sales of America, Inc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04752121381441772855noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874503396995284028.post-87099553580365069862012-06-30T08:47:00.002-07:002012-06-30T08:47:26.808-07:00

Summer officially arrives this month, but in many parts of the country it's been blazingly hot for weeks. In much of the deep South and the desert Southwest, it's easy to break a sweat walking from door to door, and the AC in our cars always takes too long to kick in. On the weekends, it's all about sundresses and bathing suits, but what about Monday through Friday? How hot is too hot? When are you supposed to ditch the hot pants and switch to a more conservative look while still trying to keep your cool?

Most of us want to appear professional, and we want to be taken seriously. But with these high temperatures, most of us just want to be cool and comfortable. The following suggestions should help with your decision making during these scorching summer months:

Some Questions To Ask Yourself

What kind of working environment are you hoping to achieve? Based on this answer, perhaps a "summer casual" dress code is in order.

What has been the practice within your area and industry? Don't reinvent the wheel – what works for others in your industry will most likely work for your business.

Is there any risk of implementing a policy that alienates employees? Always be respectful of employees to ensure that they, in turn, respect the policies of the organization.

How big an issue is this among employees to begin with?

Where are you prepared to draw the line, and what steps are you prepared to take to enforce it? Always make a plan before jumping into any new policy. A policy that isn't enforced is no policy at all.

What is the most effective way to communicate company standards to employees? Have fun with this. Try to get away from an inter-office memo and call for a summer breakfast meeting or mid-day iced coffee talk to communicate any new policy.

Are you prepared to live with your dress code guidelines?

Answering honestly to these questions can save your employees from some embarrassment and awkward looks at the water cooler. Try to implement a look that is comfortable, but meets your business needs. For example, would your casually dressed employees still be presentable if a client were to make a surprise appearance at the office. If you can successfully follow these guidelines, you are well on your way to keeping your cool while still looking stylish and professional this summer.
Uniform Sales of America, Inc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04752121381441772855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874503396995284028.post-5224880471773477832012-06-12T09:58:00.001-07:002012-06-12T09:58:54.322-07:00Some of you may notice and wonder why your Landau uniform shipments might look a little different. "Done Right" is more than just a slogan. It's a way of life.

Here's to the early risers. The heavy lifters. The people who believe there's only one way a job should be done - and that's DONE RIGHT. We've been outfitting these hard workers since 1923 in everything from shirts, pants and overalls to lab coats and butcher wraps. Today, we outfit more than 16 million workers, and we're just getting started.

So, here's to the people who do the tough jobs. The challenging jobs. The messy jobs. The bending, the twisting. The jobs that make you think on your feet. And yes, they can be the fun jobs - at least for those of us who take great pride in our work and pride in the people we work alongside. We make Red Kap for all of you. And we'll continue, for as long as there are people who never quit, who to work before the sun comes up and head home for dinner long after the sun's gone down.
Today we'll focus on standards 2 and 3, applicable to the Oil & Petrochemical Industries and Electric Utilities:

2) NFPA 2112 For Oil & Petrochemical Industries:

--Mandates that employers conduct a flash-fire hazard assessment to determine the risk of a flash fire.
--Requires employees to wear flame-resistant clothing if the potential for a flash fire exists.

3) NESC For Electric Utilities:

--Specifies that employers conduct a hazard risk assessment to determine the potential arc exposure for employees who work on or near energized parts or equipment.

--Requires employees to wear flame-resistant clothing with an APTV, or cal rating, equal to or greater than the determined arc hazard.

CARHARTT Flame Resistant clothing ensures that employers are in compliance with these important safety regulations!Uniform Sales of America, Inc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04752121381441772855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874503396995284028.post-90805943189368883622012-05-24T09:55:00.001-07:002012-05-24T09:55:15.304-07:00Did you know that employers follow three main industry standards to help protect workers from electric arc flashes and flash fires? Today we'll focus on the first standard, applicable to General Industry:

1) NFPA 70E for General Industry mandates that employers conduct a hazard risk assessment to determine the potential arc exposure for employees who work on or near energized parts or equipment. It also requires employees to wear flame-resistant (FR) clothing with an ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value), equal to or greater than the determined arc hazard. It simplifies the hazard assessment and compliance process by creating Hazard Risk Categories (HRC) for common tasks an electrical worker would perform. Therefore, an FR clothing item's HRC rating determines if that item provides sufficient protection for a particular job.

As a result, Carhartt FR clothing carries HRC tags. And, unlike some others, Carhartt HRC tags are externally visible, allowing supervisors and safety officers to easily confirm workers are in compliance with NFPA 70E regulations.Uniform Sales of America, Inc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04752121381441772855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874503396995284028.post-84653044832156047322012-05-23T09:22:00.003-07:002012-05-23T09:22:50.411-07:00PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT continued: CARHARTT FR

This season, Carhartt Flame-Resistant (FR) has strengthened their selection of flame-resistant clothing in multiple ways. These include new FR styles with reflective striping and three new garments - Coveralls, Pants, and Work Shirts - made from Tecasafe Plus, a trademarked, inherently flame-resistant fabric from Tencate.
